Lana Del Rey revealed why her upcoming 10th studio album was delayed.
In a W Magazine cover story published on Tuesday, Aug. 28, the “Summertime Sadness” singer shared why her LP now called Stove — after originally being called Lasso and renamed The Right Person Will Stay — is coming out later than expected.
According to Del Rey, 40, she had six songs she wanted to add to the record.

“They were more autobiographical than I thought, and that took more time,” said the “West Coast” musician. storytelling is there in both. And I’m always drawn to world-creating, especially in country music.”
Del Rey, who worked on the record with producer Luke Laird, in addition to Jack Antonoff, also noted that “the majority of the album will have a country flair.”
According to the singer-songwriter, her new album, Stove, will likely be released at the end of January 2026.
Elsewhere in the interview, Del Rey revealed that she considered releasing an album of country covers called Country and Western, which would feature covers of California classics.
“I love ‘California Dreamin’ ’ and ‘California’ by Joni Mitchell!” she said, also noting her love of the country song “Luckenbach, Texas.”
Added Del Rey: “The storytelling is there in both. And I’m always drawn to world-creating, especially in country music.”

Ahead of the release of Stove, Del Rey shared two singles in April — “Bluebird” and “Henry, Come On.”
She also noted at the time that her forthcoming country album would be delayed and not released on the anticipated May 21 date — and that the title of the LP would be changing again.
“I’m really happy for this album to be moving along. I do have a lot more to say [about] that … I mean, you do know it’s not going to come on time right? Like… should I even tell you that the name changed again?” Del Rey said in a now-deleted Instagram Reel shared on April 11.
She added: “Should I tell you that now, while you’re so happy you even have a song? Yeah… maybe I’ll wait.”
