Travis Kelce pulled out all the stops for his fairytale proposal to Taylor Swift!
Fans are still swooning over all the flowers and decor it took to make the setting as magical as can be. But stunning details tend to cost a pretty penny, as an expert estimates the entire cost likely amounted up to $38,000.
Ashley Greer — a florist and owner of the D.C.-based Atelier Ashley Flowers, who worked on the Obama White House Christmas trees — is breaking down that cost to PEOPLE, including the types of flowers used and what structures were needed to make it all come together.

Describing the scene as an “enchanted garden,” Greer highlights a number of flowers that were used for the arrangements, as well as some of the symbolism they hold.
“Pulling imagery from so many of [Swift’s] songs, a magical garden scene is constructed amidst August forest trees,” Greer tells PEOPLE, noting that willow, ivy and roses were all used for the setup.
She adds that 800 pounds of greenery was likely needed to achieve this look, as well as 1,200 roses and at least 1,000 other flowers.
Greer explains how the scene is centered around a 20-foot “domed arboretum,” with the metalwork covered in “mostly southern smilax vines, moss and vines with garden roses, anemone, roses, lilies and candles interwoven.”
A structure like this usually costs between $18,000 and $30,000 depending on the floral company and where it is assembled, Greer says.

The two large concrete planters seen in the photos are filled with “limelight hydrangea, secret garden roses, delphinium and pink surprise lilies.”
According to Greer, the flowers in each urn alone are likely priced between $1,000 and $3,000.

As for the ground installation, the materials needed for this include “boulders, river rocks, plants, white duchess peonies, white scabiosa, ferns and pockets of roses,” while “boxwood and lily” are used to frame the meadow path.
She explains that all of these details used for the ground installation would likely cost somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000.
The “Willow” singer and Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 35, announced their engagement in a joint post on Instagram alongside several photos from the floral-filled garden proposal on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote in the caption.
