Netflix has a new most popular film of all time.
On Tuesday, Aug. 26, the streaming service shared that the animated movie KPop Demon Hunters is officially Netflix’s most popular film of all time.
The movie surpassed Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds’ 2021 action-comedy Red Notice on Netflix’s most popular English movies of all time list and now boasts more than 236 million total views.
Red Notice is now in second place with 230.9 million all-time views. Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman’s 2024 thriller Carry-On, Leonardo DiCaprio’s 2021 disaster satire Don’t Look Up and Reynolds’ 2022 action movie The Adam Project round out the top five, according to the streamer’s Tudum website.
According to a press release, KPop Demon Hunters’ soundtrack is now the first film to have four simultaneous top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. The movie has remained in Netflix’s top 10 each week for 10 consecutive weeks. Currently, only Paw Patrol: The Movie, which has been on Netflix’s top 10 for 12 weeks in a row, has appeared at the top of Netflix’s charts for a longer period of time.

KPop Demon Hunters, which follows a K-Pop girl group who secretly battle supernatural threats while away from their day jobs, debuted on Netflix on June 20 and became the platform’s most-watched animated movie of all-time by the end of July, as Netlix previously reported.
The movie is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and co-written with Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan. Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong and Lee Byung-hun make up its voice cast.
“When K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey aren’t selling out stadiums, they’re using their secret powers to protect their fans from supernatural threats,” a synopsis teases.

Red Notice starred Johnson as an FBI agent who is forced to team up with a notorious art thief (Reynolds) after both are implicated in a crime by another art thief known as the Bishop (Gadot). The movie follows the trio as they plan and execute heists around the globe.
As Johnson wrote on Instagram back in November 2021, Red Notice became the most popular Netflix movie ever at that time just 11 days after it began streaming. At that time, it overtook Sandra Bullock’s 2018 movie Bird Box as the streamer’s most popular movie ever.
