NEED TO KNOW
John Stamos is providing a health update on his longtime friend Dave Coulier’s cancer treatment journey.
While attending the Monday, Aug. 18 opening night of Jeff Ross: Take A Banana For The Ride on Broadway at The Nederlander Theatre in New York City, Stamos, 62, gave PEOPLE an exclusive update on Coulier’s health.
“I go see him. He’s doing great,” he says of his former Full House costar.
Stamos elaborates, “We have a couple shows we’re doing together. We’re going to Japan in a couple weeks to do little Comic Con thing, which would be good. And it’s just fun to spend time with him, and he’s doing great.”
Coulier, 65, was diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in November 2024. He recounted battling an upper respiratory infection that led to swelling in the lymph nodes while detailing the diagnosis.
When his doctor advised PET and CT scans as well as a biopsy, they discovered his cancer.
“Three days later, my doctors called me back and they said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and it’s called B cell and it’s very aggressive,’” he told PEOPLE exclusively in 2024.
“I went from, I got a little bit of a head cold to I have cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming,” he elaborated at the time. “This has been a really fast roller coaster ride of a journey.”

A few days after Coulier went public with the diagnosis, Stamos wore a bald cap to support his friend’s newly shaved head in preparation for chemotherapy. In an Instagram post from Nov. 18, 2024, Stamos wrote, “Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier.”

The caption continued at the time, “You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity—it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way,” Stamos continued, noting that Coulier’s wife Melissa “is the most wonderfulest.”
