Colton Dixon’s twin girls are growing up fast!
The American Idol alum, 33, recently celebrated a milestone birthday for his daughters, Ava Dior (or simply Dior as her parents call her) and Athens Elizabeth, sharing exclusive photos with PEOPLE. Dixon, who welcomed his girls with wife Annie, says that it’s “hard to believe” that his daughters are now 5 years old.
“It’s hard to believe Dior and Athens are turning 5!” Dixon, who recently released his new single “The Love I Have for You,” tells PEOPLE. “Having them in our lives has been the greatest joy and we are excited for this next phase of life with them. Every day is an adventure! We are honored God chose us to be their parents.”

The proud dad said that they started the big day with lunch on the shore, where the twins gave him a surprise.
“We started the day with lunch on the beach, where the girls surprised me with a gold plaque for [Dixon’s song “Miracles”]!” he says. “Seeing them walking up with it is a memory I will always treasure!”

Shortly after welcoming his twin girls in August 2020, the “Made To Fly” caught up with PEOPLE to talk about life as a dad to identical twin girls. While the artist was initially caught by surprise when he heard he was having twins — he recalled thinking “I was going to throw up” — he said at the time that he “wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“I love being a girl dad, first and foremost. It’s so fun,” he shared.
As for following in their father’s footsteps, Dixon said at the time that his girls are “definitely interested in music.” He added, “Every once in a while, little Dior, if music is on, she has this really soft, sweet voice. She’ll get real quiet and then she’ll start … we think it’s singing. It’s the cutest thing.”
