Marc Maron is opening up about his journey with anxiety.
The WTF podcast host, 61, says some of his anxieties have gone away with age and money in the new documentary Anxiety Club.
“There’s a lot of things I don’t give a s— about that I used to — that were big, anxiety-producing things. I think, with age and certainly with money, a lot of that stuff is sort of just null and void, and it’s a relief,” he says.

However, Maron says the absence of those fears have left him overthinking other things.
“But then you start to get into deeper issues, like, ‘’Why am I still not enjoying myself? Why am I still feeling less than or uncomfortable in certain situations?’ What is that about?” he says.
Anxiety Club offers an intimate look at anxiety through the eyes of a few popular comedians and content creators who have previously opened up about their mental health in their work. The documentary is directed by Wendy Lobel and features interviews with Maron, Tiffany Jenkins, Baron Vaughn, Aparna Nancherla, Mark Normand, Eva Victor and Joe List.
“With comedy, vulnerability, and honesty, these comedians provide remarkable insight into anxiety — the most prevalent mental health disorder affecting an estimated 300 million people worldwide,” the synopsis reads.

Elsewhere in the documentary, Maron reveals that his anxiety stopped him from having children.
“I’m not sad about it. My panic and worry level operates in such a way that it just seems like a nightmare to me,” he says.
The comedian also shares how he has learned to process, and somewhat accept, his anxiety.
“What do we think we’re gonna do?” he says. “Like, if you’re incapacitated and your life is unmanageable for whatever reason, yeah, you should fix that. If you’re uncomfortable, but you’re okay. That might just be you.”

Maron has hosted the WTF podcast for nearly 16 years. On it, he has interviewed several public figures, including former President Barack Obama, Carol Burnett and Al Pacino.
The comedian announced in the June 2 episode that he will be bringing his podcast to an end, with the last episode expected to air this fall.
“This podcast will turn 16 years old on Sept. 1. That’s a couple months away. Sixteen years, it’s a long time. It’s a long time to do anything, and it’s certainly, I’ve said recently that while I’m living it, I don’t feel like time is passing by quickly, but all of a sudden, you’re old and you realize you’ve been doing something for a long time,” he said.
