NEED TO KNOW
There are no secrets between Jenna Bush Hager and her children.
While speaking with guest co-host and friend Savannah Guthrie during an episode of Today with Jenna and Friends, the former first daughter, 43, revealed that she has access to all of her 10-year-old daughter Poppy’s text messages. Bush Hager shares her three children — daughters Poppy, 10, and Mila, 12, and son Henry, 6 — with husband Henry Hager.
“I get her text messages because she just gives everybody my cell phone [number],” Hager told Gutherie. “She doesn’t text that much because she doesn’t have a phone. But she’ll use her iPad to write, ‘Hey!’ and somebody writes back, ‘Hey!’ And I’m like, ‘What is happening where I’m getting Gigi’s Facetimes?'”
The mom of three often candidly talks about her children on Today with Jenna and Friends. Recently, she shared why she got emotional when taking her daughter to a concert.
She recently spoke about taking her older daughter, Mila, to see Gracie Abrams perform. Bush Hager explained that she started crying when she saw how happy her daughter was and realized that it might be the last time her daughter would allow her to go to a concert with her.
“It was so much fun and I don’t like…I’m going through something, obviously. My oldest is going into middle school,” Bush Hager began. “For whatever reason, we sat down, and this is like, think about how embarrassing this is as a child. And just seeing how excited they were for her. I started crying. I was like, ‘This is so beautiful. Look at like…’ To see this concert through their eyes.”
As her husband went to get their family sodas, Bush Hager thought about how her daughter might not want to go to concerts with her mom in the next few years.
“And I was just thinking like, this could be the last time my seventh grader is cool with sitting next to her mom at a concert. In a few years, she’s going to be going with all of her buddies and not mommy,” Bush Hager explained, getting a little emotional.
She added, “And he got back and he was like, ‘Are you crying again?’ And I was like, I just was thinking time is going so fast. And she’ll sit next to me and hold my hand a little. And he’s like, ‘Don’t cry. She’s humiliated. You know, you want to keep her next to you.’ But it was so fun.”
