NEED TO KNOW
Fallout season 2 is just around the corner.
Adapted from the popular video game franchise, Fallout premiered on Prime Video in April 2024 and became an instant hit, amassing more than 100 million viewers worldwide and making it among the streamer’s top three most-watched titles ever. Shortly after its release, Fallout was renewed for a season 2. Now, more than a year later, fans are on the edge of their seats waiting to see what’s in store for Lucy (Ella Purnell), The Ghoul (Walter Goggins) and the rest of the crew in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland.
After the first season of the Emmy-winning series wrapped, co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet told The Hollywood Reporter that there were a few elements from season 1 (and its fan reactions!) that the behind-the-scenes crew would bring into season 2.
“What I’m really excited to continue in Season 2 is that blend of tones, that this show can have sitcom moments that are juxtaposed with people shooting each other,” she said, noting that their characters have layers to them. “Knowing that people are open to Max being a morally ambiguous character is always appreciated.”
Meanwhile, co-showrunner Graham Wagner added that he was looking forward to “continuing to try to make our own personal and collective joy govern decisions as we go forward.”
From its returning cast members to its premiere date, here’s everything to know about Fallout season 2.

Fallout season 2 will pick up after the season 1 finale, in which Lucy discovered a string of secrets her father, Hank, had been keeping and learned more about the ongoing struggle of civilization in the Wasteland. Now, Lucy and The Ghoul will be on the hunt to find Hank — though they’ll be up against Deathclaw, the treacherous monster from the video game franchise.
Following the finale, Wagner confirmed to The Wrap that he was intentional about saving Deathclaw for season 2.
“We wanted to get Deathclaws, but we didn’t want to just throw it away. It’s such a monumental piece,” Wagner said. “We want to save something for season 2 to be able to do it properly, not just added on to the massive world building we had to do already in season 1. So season 2, we’re very excited to finally tackle one of the most iconic elements of the games.”
However, Deathclaw might not be the only new component from the video game series finally making its way to the screen. During her conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Robertson-Dworet teased the introduction of several new elements — drawing from “25 years of Fallout games” — as they continue the story line.
“There were so many things that we were not able to put in the show that we really desperately wanted that are either brilliant ideas for characters, creatures, set pieces,” she said. “We’re always going to be bringing in new things from the Fallout mythology as we move forward with the show.”
Wagner also teased to The Hollywood Reporter that Lucy’s character would face new challenges in season 2.
“What we’re already into in Season 2 is exploring how far we want to push this character, how much do we want to see her hang onto […] herself,” he told the outlet in June 2024. “It becomes the game of the show in its own way.”

Is there a trailer for Fallout season 2?
The trailer for season 2 of Fallout was released on Aug. 19, offering a glimpse into what’s next for Lucy, Maximus and The Ghoul in the post-apocalyptic Wasteland.
The clip opens with Lucy and The Ghoul looking for Lucy’s father, Vault 33 Overseer Hank, after he escaped with Maximus’ Power Armor in the season 1 finale.
The Ghoul then asks Lucy, “You wanna know why the world ended? It started here with one man.”
The pair then head toward New Vegas, formerly known as Las Vegas, where they encounter Robert House, who tells Goggins’ pre-Ghoulified Cooper in a flashback that he knows “everything.”
“I know there’s a war coming. The bombs will only be the beginning,” House says. “My concern is that you would do just about anything to save your family. I think you are actually quite a violent man. You just don’t want to kill me … yet.”
Later in the trailer, Lucy and The Ghoul come face to face with one of the video game’s most formidable predators: Deathclaw.
In the final moments of the sneak peek, Lucy says to The Ghoul, “I defer to you about what to do in this situation,” before the two run for their lives.
