On Aug. 13, Swift, 35, shared on Instagram that her forthcoming album The Life of a Showgirl will be released on Friday, Oct. 3.
She also unveiled the cover art for the record, which features the “Fortnight” singer in a cut-out-accented bedazzled one-piece while splayed out in a body of water. Swift can also be seen sporting a signature red lip — with smoky eye makeup.
The “So High School” artist captioned the post, “And, baby, that’s show business for you. New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3.”
The album is produced by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback.
She also shared follow-up images where she can be seen sporting rhinestones, feathers and matching headpieces, aligning with her showgirl look.

Alongside the LP announcement and cover reveal, Swift also shared the track list. In addition to Carpenter’s feature, Swift’s songs include “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “Honey,” “Actually Romantic,” “CANCELLED!”, “Eldest Daughter”, “Father Figure”, “Opalite” and “The Fate of Ophelia.”
The 14-time Grammy winner initially announced her forthcoming album in an Instagram video teaser on the New Heights podcast — which her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce co-host — at 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Carpenter was a longtime and vocal fan of Swift even before she was the opening act for Swift on the Eras Tour,
In 2020, she opened up to Apple Music about how the star’s music, and specifically her 2020 album folklore, inspired her own creative process.
“Taylor Swift posted something when she released her new album in the description of when it dropped and saying like, ‘I usually would overthink the songs that I’m going to put out and release,’” the “Espresso” hitmaker said at the time. “And I just feel like nothing is certain right now and so it just felt right and I wanted to do it.”
Carpenter added: “And that put me in such a good warm-hearted place where then I could listen to all these songs that I’ve been making with such a fresh perspective of like, ‘You know what, this is how I feel right now in musical form.'”
