NEED TO KNOW
Dad-to-be Pete Davidson is looking ahead to the time when he will be able to share his on-screen work with his child.
The comedian, 31, who is currently expecting a baby with his girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt, opened up to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview about the first project he plans to show his child one day.
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. I know I’ll show Dog Man, that’s for sure,” he says, referring to the 2025 animated comedy-action movie based on the popular children’s book series by Dav Pilkey.
Davidson voiced the character of feline supervillain Petey the Cat in the film, which was released in theaters on Jan. 31.
The Saturday Night Live alum also tells PEOPLE that he and Hewitt, 29, recently had a moment on a red carpet where “we were like, ‘Oh, wow, the baby will be like, ‘I was in there [during the event].’ ”

Hewitt confirmed her pregnancy on July 16, sharing a series of photos and clips on Instagram that offered a glimpse into the couple’s parenthood journey so far. One photo shows the model sitting on Davidson’s lap, with her hands covering her stomach.
She also included a video of herself getting an ultrasound as the camera panned to show the baby’s image on the screen. In addition, the carousel featured snaps of Hewitt and Davidson hugging.
The expectant mom jokingly captioned the post, “Welp now everyone knows we had sex.”
Following the baby news, a source told PEOPLE that Davidson was “so excited” to become a father.
“They’re both very nurturing people and are very, very happy together and to be starting a family,” the insider said of the Pickup star and Hewitt.
“They’ve been sharing privately with loved ones, and it’s a really sweet time after everything Pete has overcome,” the source added. “He’s so excited. He’s always wanted to be a dad.”

Davidson publicly commented on his dad-to-be status for the first time at the New York City premiere of his new film, The Home, on July 22. He told E! News, “I’m very lucky and very, very happy.”
He also said he’s looking forward to “being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have.”
“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it,” Davidson added to the outlet.
Davidson said his friends have been equally excited about the baby on the way “because they know it’s been my dream [to be a father].”
“They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life,’ ” he told E! News.
When the King of Staten Island star walked the red carpet with Hewitt on July 27 for the Los Angeles premiere of The Pickup, he revealed to PEOPLE what his first thought was when he found out the news that the model was pregnant — and how his priorities immediately shifted to focus on his future child.
“I was like, ‘Oh wow, what I do is just a job,’ ” Davidson recalled. “I realized I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy. So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job and now I have someone to do it for.”
The Pickup is now available to stream on Prime Video.
