Keke Palmer is getting candid about what Pete Davidson is like as a costar.
“I honestly think he and I have chemistry,” the actress, 31, told Entertainment Weekly of the new action-comedy The Pickup, which is now streaming on Prime Video.
“Look, I don’t know anybody that Pete don’t have chemistry with,” Palmer quipped. “I mean, he’s pretty well-liked in the female world.”
The Pickup stars Eddie Murphy and Davidson, 31, as armored truck drivers who face a savvy bank robber played by Palmer. “As chaos unfolds around them, the unlikely duo must navigate high-risk danger, clashing personalities, and one very bad day that keeps getting worse,” reads an official synopsis.

Complicating the Tim Story-directed shenanigans is the budding romance between Palmer and Davidson’s characters. “He’s so sweet, so it was comfortable even though we were being all naked and stuff like that,” said the Nope star.
“But it was in the first week of a shooting — I think it might’ve been the second day or so,” she added of their flirty bedroom scenes. “We were both really putting our best foot forward. I think it’s a big opportunity for us both.”
Both costars, she recalled, “were just really happy” to be starring in a movie with a screen legend like Murphy, 64.
“We started out acting and performing as kids,” Palmer said. “I mean, [Davidson] started doing standup at 12. I started acting at nine. So I think being at this point in our lives, we’re in our thirties, and we’re working with Eddie Murphy. For us, it feels like these are the moments that we dreamed of.”

Speaking to PEOPLE recently about meeting the Beverly Hills Cop star years ago, Palmer said being close friends with Murphy’s daughters meant seeing Murphy as a “typical dad” at home.
“He was coming downstairs in his pajamas, and he was just playing a guitar, which is the sickest thing that he could play,” she recalled. “I remember thinking to myself like, ‘Damn, he really is about that life.’ ”
