NEED TO KNOW
Kevin Federline is ready to tell his story.
Federline, the dancer and DJ who rose to fame after marrying Britney Spears, is set to release a new memoir titled You Thought You Knew on Oct. 21 via the new audio imprint Listenin, he announced on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
“This book is extremely intimate and transparent. I achieved my biggest dreams, dealt with crushing heartbreak, and endured constant ridicule, all while becoming the father my children needed as they experienced nonstop emotional turbulence,” Federline says. “If you’ve ever had questions, you’ll find answers here.”
The memoir promises to deliver the story of “fame, fatherhood and the private cost of public life — from one of pop culture’s most misunderstood figures,” according to a press release.
Federline, 47, was married to Spears, 43, from 2004 to 2007, and they share sons Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18. He is also dad to daughter Kori, 23, and son Kaleb, 21, with ex Shar Jackson. He married Victoria Prince in 2008, and they share daughters Jordan, 13, and Peyton, 11.

The release describes the book as “deeply personal and emotionally grounded,” and says it marks the first time Federline has publicly spoken about the events and relationships that shaped him.
You Thought You Knew will cover everything from his working-class childhood, which included a move from Fresno, Calif. to Nevada after his parents divorced when he was 8, to life as a public figure after marrying Spears.
In addition to career moments dancing with stars like Destiny’s Child and Michael Jackson, the memoir will cover Federline’s marriage to and divorce from Spears, as well as the fallout from their split and how he learned to protect his six children from the glaring spotlight.
The memoir is the debut release from Listenin, a new audio-first storytelling imprint from Barracuda Baby Production.
“We’re proud to have Kevin as the first of our three books launching with Listenin,” says Jaren Hayman, founder of Barracuda Baby Productions. “He spent two years in every tabloid and two decades navigating a volatile, ever-changing reality — choosing silence to protect his kids. That silence left scars. Listenin was built for real voices telling real stories, and sharing Kevin’s after everything said about him means a lot to us. I am excited for the world to get to meet the real Kevin Federline.”
The release comes nearly two years after Spears released a memoir of her own, titled The Woman in Me.
You Thought You Knew will hit shelves and digital platforms like Spotify, Audible and Apple Books on Oct. 21.
