Daniel Kyri couldn’t stay away from Firehouse 51 for long!
The actor, 30, teased an upcoming appearance on Chicago Fire just four months after announcing his exit from the beloved firefighter drama. On Monday, Aug. 4, Kyri took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of himself on set with his former costars Hanako Greensmith and Jocelyn Hudon.

“Back! For a limited time only ✌🏾,” he captioned it.
He also reposted a group shot from Hudon’s Story, which captured Kyri hanging out with David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Miranda Rae Mayo and new cast member Brandon Larracuente in front of a fire truck.

In April, sources told Deadline that Kyri and Jake Lockett would not be returning for season 14 of Chicago Fire.
Kyri had played Darren Ritter for seven seasons, becoming a series regular in 2020 after two seasons as a recurring guest star on the show. Lockett, 40, who portrayed Sam Carver, joined the cast in season 11.
After the news of his departure broke, Kyri spoke out on his social media in a short message to fans.
“I’ll miss this character, and it’s time to move on,” he wrote alongside a kiss face emoji. “Thank you to the cast, crew & the awesome fans.”
Kyri’s character did not leave the firehouse in the season 13 finale, nor did he have any sort of conclusion to his story.
Lockett also addressed his exit with a sweet montage of his time on the show.
“While I don’t exactly know what the future looks like, I do know that it won’t be exactly what it was and I am going to miss the hell out of that,” he wrote on Instagram in April. “So much pride in this journey.”
“It’s been an honor bringing Sam to life and to every one of you, thank you for the love and support over the past three years,” Lockett later added.

Per Deadline, the exits were believed to be the result of budget cuts.
Sources told the outlet that there may be more exits across all of the One Chicago franchise, which includes Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med in addition to Chicago Fire.
Just last month, PEOPLE reported that Michael Bradway would also be leaving his role in the NBC procedural. The 26-year-old played Jack Damon, the younger half-brother of Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide, for a total of 17 episodes throughout two seasons.
This came shortly after he was cast in Prime Video’s series adaptation of Carley Fortune’s 2022 romance novel Every Summer After. However, PEOPLE confirmed that the Chicago Fire producers are open to welcoming Bradway back in the future should schedules allow.
