NEED TO KNOW
Emily Blunt is back in fashion on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Nearly 20 years after the 2006 film was released, the actress, 42, was spotted filming the sequel in New York City on Tuesday, July 29, reprising her role as Emily Charlton.
Blunt wore shades and a chic black-and-white outfit for the scene, donning her character’s red hair once again.
The Oppenheimer actress is among several original costars returning for the followup movie: Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci have all been photographed filming in New York City in recent weeks.

Based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, the first film starred Hathaway, now 42, as Runway magazine intern Andy Sachs, who has to prove herself to the intimidating editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley (Streep, now 76, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance). Blunt played Priestley’s cutthroat assistant Emily, and Tucci, now 64, was art director Nigel.
New cast members for the second film include Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, Simone Ashley, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet.
Back in 2018 Blunt told PEOPLE she didn’t think a second movie was likely at the time, but added, “If everyone did it, I would be up for it.” She said, “I almost hope it doesn’t because I think sometimes when you sequel everything kind of dilutes how special the original is.” Then in 2022, while on The View, Blunt said she “would do [a sequel] in a heartbeat just to play with those guys again.”

In June 2025, Blunt teased her return, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do? We always have beef with each other. I don’t know what it is. Let’s hope we remedy it. I’m not sure.” (They also worked together in Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns.)
Blunt also shared that her daughters Hazel, 11, and Violet, 9, whom she shares with husband John Krasinski, are excited to visit her on set: “I think they would quite like to go to set, just for the fashion.”
On June 30, 20th Century Studios confirmed that Devil Wears Prada 2 had officially begun production. Hathaway has since posted several updates on Instagram while filming, including one showcasing a new costume with the caption, “Andy Sachs 2025 #dwp2.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters May 2026.
