NEED TO KNOW
The cast of KPop Demon Hunters is “golden.”
The new animated musical follows the adventures of HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group that is one of the biggest music acts on the planet. As if that wasn’t enough, they also moonlight as demon hunters, who meet their match when an evil boy band, Saja Boys, arrive on the scene as competitors.
Since its release on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has quickly become a streaming sensation, with the movie dominating Netflix’s top 10 list, and the soundtrack peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, per Variety.
Notably, the film features a dynamic voice-acting cast. The characters are portrayed by familiar actors whose work spans different genres, including Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Arden Cho, Squid Game’s Lee Byung-hun and Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim. Meanwhile, another set of stars sings.
Here’s a look at the cast of KPop Demon Hunters side-by-side with the animated characters they play.

Arden Cho slays as Rumi, demon hunter and lead singer of HUNTR/X.
Cho played Kira Yukimura on Teen Wolf, and she has appeared on Chicago Med and Netflix’s live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
“This movie has been one of my absolute favorites, because Rumi is legit the coolest character,” Cho said in a June 2025 interview. “If I was a teenage girl, I feel like I would want to be Rumi. I’m still kind of geeking out that I get to be her voice.”

May Hong stays “Golden” as Mira, the intimidating and intense member of HUNTR/X.
Before KPop Demon Hunters, Hong appeared on Hacks, New Amsterdam and Netflix’s Tales of the City.
In a May 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hong said Mira is the “tomboy” of HUNTR/X.
“She’s tough as f—, I like that, but also so sensitive and so vulnerable,” the actress explained. “I do think I’ve been perceived as someone who’s harder on the outside than I actually am with loved ones, and so it resonated with me.”
Ji-young Yoo as Zoey

Ji-young Yoo is the voice of Zoey, the bubbly rapper of HUNTR/X.
Before fighting demons, Yoo appeared in Freaky Tales, Until Dawn and Prime Video’s Expats.
Zoey is an energetic character, and though Yoo thought it was “fun and very lovable,” it also proved taxing as she revealed to EW.
“A lot of it was just me trying to get as much energy as possible stored up in my system,” she said. “So that I could go into the booth and give that much energy to her voice, which is a ton of fun, but definitely a new kind of stamina challenge for me.”
Ahn Hyo-seop as Jinu

Ahn Hyo-seop plays heartthrob Jinu, the lead singer of the Saja Boys.
The actor previously appeared in a few South Korean shows, including Father is Strange, Business Proposal and A Time Called You, but KPop Demon Hunters was his first English voice acting role.
In a July 2025 Netflix video, Ahn was asked what he liked most about Jinu, to which he responded, “I liked his looks and how he’s kind of cool.”
The actor continued, “He doesn’t care too much about things. He has his own atmosphere and his own speed.”
Ken Jeong as Bobby

Outside of acting, he has been a panelist on The Masked Singer since 2019.
