NEED TO KNOW
Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette is joining Reacher season 4.
The actor, whose recent credits include RZR and Barry, has boarded the Prime Video series to play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman, according to Deadline.
The outlet also reports that Rodriguez-Marquette stepped into the role after Jay Baruchel was initially cast but had to back out due to a personal matter.
PEOPLE has reached out to reps at Prime Video for comment.
Rodriguez-Marquette’s acting credits go all the way back to the mid-90s.
The actor’s first major television role was on Aliens in the Family, and he went on to have roles in the animated The Mummy series, Joan of Arcadia and Strong Medicine.

In recent years, Rodriguez-Marquette appeared in All Wrong and The Fugitive.
He’s also had cameos on shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Law & Order, The Nanny, 7th Heaven, ER, Even Stevens, Touched by an Angel, As Told By Ginger, Rocket Power, The Wild Thornberrys, Weeds, Criminal Minds, House, Hawaii Five-O, Mozart in the Jungle, Lucifer and Magnum P.I., to name a few.
Reacher season 4 is set to adapt Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow.
Alan Ritchson, who plays Jack Reacher, confirmed that the forthcoming season would be based on Child’s 2009 book, the 13th in the Jack Reacher book series, on Instagram earlier this month.
The post quoted a line from the book, which reads, “The thing about subway cars is you step on one and you never know what’s going to happen.”
Previous seasons of Jack Reacher have been based on 1997’s Killing Floor (season 1), 2007’s Bad Luck and Trouble (season 2) and 2003’s Persuader (season 3).
Reacher was renewed for a season 4 before season 3 even premiered.
Ritchson shared the news on Instagram in October 2024, more than four months before the third season premiered in February 2025.

An official premiere date for the show’s fourth season has yet to be announced, but production is underway.
On June 16, former U.S. President Joe Biden accidentally crashed the Reacher set as the show was filming in Philadelphia.
“Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn’t have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present,” Ritchson wrote on Instagram. “We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day’s work.”
