Cher has son Elijah Blue Allman’s best interest at heart as he navigates a rocky road.
Allman, 48, was hospitalized on Saturday, June 14 after allegedly displaying erratic behavior — and a source says that his famous mother, 79, is focused on helping him heal.
“Like all mothers, she’s doing everything she can to help her son and help him get well,” the source says.
Allman — who was born to Cher and her second husband, late rocker Gregg Allman — was hospitalized after authorities were called to a home in Landers, Calif. for a “male subject acting erratically,” according to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Upon arrival, deputies found Allman “being evaluated by emergency medical personnel.”
“Deputies located drugs inside the home and Allman was transported to the hospital,” the statement said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Legal representatives for Allman, as well as a representative for Cher, did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, June 15.
Allman, a musician who plays with the band Deadsy, is currently in the midst of a divorce from his estranged wife Marieangela King Allman, who filed for divorce in April after nearly 12 years of marriage.
His mental health was at the center of headlines in December 2023, when Cher filed for a temporary conservatorship over his estate, alleging at the time that Allman was struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. Mother and son later reached a private agreement, and Cher voluntarily dismissed her petition nine months later.
“This outcome allows the parties to focus on healing and rebuilding their family bond, a process that began during mediation and continues today,” a statement shared with PEOPLE by Allman’s attorneys, Avi Levy and Steven Brumer of Cage & Miles, LLP, said at the time.
That same year, King alleged in court documents that Cher had hired four men to remove Allman from their hotel room amid concerns for her son’s well-being.
The “Believe” singer told PEOPLE that “that rumor is not true,” and declined to comment further.

“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher added of watching her son’s yearslong struggles with substance abuse. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
Meanwhile, Allman’s estranged wife King shared her support for the musician after his hospitalization in a statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE.
“While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves,” she said.
“Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat,” Marieangela continued. “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.”
“I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him,” she added. “My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
