Terry Moran has announced his next move following his termination from ABC after criticizing President Donald Trump and one of his key advisers on X.
A day after a spokesperson for the network confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that the journalist had been terminated, Moran went on X to announce that he was moving to Substack.
“For almost 28 years, I was a reporter and anchor for ABC News. And as you may have heard, I’m not there anymore,” he began in a Wednesday, June 11 video that was also shared on Substack.
“I’m here with you on Substack, this amazing space, and I can’t wait to get at it,” he continued. “To get at the important work that we all have to do in this time of such trouble for our country.”
Moran said that he will “be reporting and interviewing and just sharing with you, and hoping to hear from you as well.”
He noted, however, that it might “be a few days” or “maybe a little bit longer” since he has “to get some stuff sorted out.”
The news reporter reiterated the same sentiments in the caption of the post, expressing that he “can’t wait to get into the important work that we all have to do.”
Moran’s announcement comes a day after a spokesperson for his previous employer stated on Tuesday, June 10, that they were “at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran” and “have made the decision to not renew.”
Referring to Moran’s post as “a clear violation of ABC News policies,” the statement added, “at ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”

The post in question, which has now been deleted, was made in the early hours of Sunday, June 8, and targeted Trump and Stephen Miller, the president’s homeland security adviser and deputy chief of staff for policy, referring to them as “world-class hater[s].”
“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate,” a portion of his tweet read.
“Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred is only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification [sic]. That’s his spiritual nourishment,” his message concluded.

ABC News first announced that Moran had “been suspended pending further evaluation,” before later announcing his release.
