Who’s taking home a BET Award?
The awards show, which is known as culture’s biggest night and is celebrating its 25th anniversary, aired live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, June 9.
Kendrick Lamar led this year’s nominations with 10, followed by Doechii, Drake, Future and GloRilla, each of whom earned six.
Metro Boomin scored five nominations, while SZA and The Weekend each received four. Ayra Starr, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Maverick City Music, Playboi Carti, Teddy Swims and Tyler, the Creator each earned three nods.
Kevin Hart returned to host this year’s awards show after taking on the role in 2011. A year later, he won the Best Actor BET Award in 2012 for his role in Think Like a Man.
“I love a celebration! It’s a chance to reflect, cherish, and honor life’s unforgettable moments,” Hart, 45, said in a press release. “I’m truly honored to host the 25th BET Awards and celebrate the culture’s biggest night. This year marks the 25th anniversary, and my partners at Hartbeat, BET, and JCE are pulling out all the stops to make it a night to remember.”
He also promised to deliver “the ultimate show-stopping performances, powerful moments, and heartfelt tributes reflecting Black culture’s depth and richness over the last quarter century,” per a press release.
Among this year’s performers are Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, GloRilla, Playboi Carti and Leon Thomas.
