Kailyn Lowry’s oldest son is sharing some important updates about his life.
The podcaster mom, 33, was joined by her 15-year-old son Isaac on a Thursday, June 5 episode of her podcast Barely Famous, where the teenager opened up about his life today. He explained that coming out has been a decision he made for himself and that he wants to share his life on his own terms.
The discussion began with mom and son talking through the struggles of trying to have both a personal and private life, with Lowry noting that teens today have social media to navigate in addition to day-to-day life.
“It’s very important to me because I feel like growing up on TV, it’s hard to show who you really are when a camera is in front of you all the time. It’s almost like you have a TV face. It’s harder to be yourself and to be more comfortable,” the teen shared.

“I want to be clear that this is for me,” the teen said of his appearance on the episode. “Let me have my moment. I’m really sick of people coming up with their own stories and putting things in their own words and things coming out on other people’s terms about me, because my life isn’t entertainment for other people.”
“My life is my life and I can do what I want with it. And for people to take things from my life, like personal stuff, is not okay. If I want to share it, I should share that on my own terms.”
The emotional episode also featured the teen explaining why he’s decided to go by Elliott, his middle name.
“I started going by Elliott, because at some point, I wasn’t happy with my first name. It just doesn’t feel like me,” the teen explained.
Lowry shares Isaac with ex Jo Rivera. She shares son Lincoln, 11, with ex Javi Marroquin; sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with ex Chris Lopez; and son Rio, 2, and twins Verse and Valley, whom she welcomed in late 2023, with fiancé Elijah Scott.
Back in May, the mom of seven shared a series of photos on Instagram as she celebrated her son Isaac heading off to prom for the first time. The teenager could be seen wearing a navy blue suit with black trim, which he accessorized with a bowtie as he posed outside.
The proud mom also included a clip of Isaac getting his hair done for the event, as well as a photo of her younger son Lincoln posing with his older brother outside.
“Sent @isaacelliottr off to prom this weekend 🥹💙,” Lowry wrote in her caption.

In April, Lowry spoke with PEOPLE about how her son Isaac has been dabbling in a public-facing life and has slowly entered the young influencer space while Lowry keeps a close eye every step of the way. Having been only around two years older than he is now when she was introduced on 16 and Pregnant, the proud mom can understand both the appeal and the struggle of being known on a wider scale.
“When Isaac and I have conversations, it’s such a weird… I understand Isaac not wanting to be recognized publicly, but also loving the community that he’s built online,” she told PEOPLE.
“He has a very big social media presence and he loves theater and drama and that sort of thing. I worry about the conflict that he will be presented with if he ever was to get an agent and be in movies because part of it is being publicly recognized, but then you want your privacy.”
Regardless of his own choices about maintaining an online presence, Isaac’s gotten to an age where it’s harder to ignore that people know who he is because of the years where Lowry’s story played out on TV.
“I think that’s been challenging for him because he doesn’t necessarily want to be recognized by people out in public, but he also wants to be recognized on social media or in a play or a movie. So I don’t know what that looks like for the future, but we’ll see.”
