John Wick’s violent universe just keeps getting bigger.
Since the hit action flick starring Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin first premiered in 2014, three follow-up films, one spinoff movie and a prequel series have expanded the story — and it isn’t over yet.
A fifth installment has been in the works since 2020, per Deadline, and Lionsgate confirmed in April 2025 that Reeves once again will play the seemingly unkillable hitman in John Wick: Chapter 5. While fans were thrilled by the news, the actor admitted the role is taking a toll.
“My knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick,’ ” he told CBS Mornings in December 2024. “My heart [wants to], but I don’t know if my knees can do it.”
Whether you’re catching up for the first time or revisiting every showdown, here’s everything to know about how to watch the John Wick movies in order and where to watch them.

After three long years, fans were finally treated to a John Wick sequel, which picks up right where the first film left off. Though Wick tries to return to a quiet life of retirement, a blood oath from his past forces him back into the criminal underworld.

In the third film in the action franchise, Wick is on the run, having been declared “excommunicado” for breaking the High Table’s strict code of ethics. With no allies and no safe haven, he must fight his way to stay alive from the army of assassins quickly closing in.
Along the way, he seeks help from old connections, including his former friend and ex-assassin Sofia Al-Azwar, played by Halle Berry.

Ballerina
Lionsgate
The first John Wick spinoff film, Ballerina, takes place between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. It follows ballerina-assassin Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) — first introduced into the franchise in Chapter 3 and played by dancer Unity Phelan — who trains to avenge the murder of her father.
Ballerina marks Reddick’s final performance before his death, after he appeared in all four John Wick films as Charon. Reeves also reprises his role as Wick.
Watch Ballerina in theaters starting June 6.

The 2023 film — which was lauded as “one of the greatest action movies ever made” by critics — sees Wick waging all-out war against the High Table after being left for dead in Chapter 3. Still excommunicado, he cuts a bloody path across the globe as the price on his head continues to climb.
But escaping assassin life won’t be easy. New threats emerge, including a ruthless new villain (Bill Skarsgård) and a blind assassin from Wick’s past, played by Donnie Yen in a standout performance.
