The 1990s rock band 4 Non Blondes is reacting to their recent spike in popularity.
In a video posted to TikTok, the group shared a montage of celebrities participating in the current social media trend set to a mashup of their 1992 hit “What’s Up?” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”
The song has experienced a resurgence thanks to the TikTok challenge, where two people stand back to back, with one person lip-synching the 4 Non Blondes song while the other sings Minaj’s rap from her 2012 track.
The mashup has been used in over 1.4 million posts, including notable names like Joe Jonas, Khloé Kardashian, Madelyn Cline and Malala Yousafzai — all of whom appeared in the video shared by the band.
“This song is 30 years old and is number one on the TikTok chart??” the group — which consists of Dawn Ricardson, Roger Rocha, Linda Perry, and Christa Hillhouse — wrote atop the video.
“TikTok, you’ve given us a very wild welcome,” they captioned the TikTok, adding the mind-blown emoji.

The group found fame in the early 1990s, but disbanded after releasing their first and only album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!, which included “What’s Up?” and peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
They reunited this year, however, performing together for just the second time since their split at California’s BottleRock Napa Valley music festival in May.
Speaking on The Allison Hagendorf Show, Perry, the lead singer, explained just how the stars aligned for 4 Non Blondes to take the stage together once again.
“It’s not [the right time] and I don’t know when it would [be]. It’s more like, honestly, it’s the right time in my head. It’s the right time in my heart,” she said. “I’ve been kind of putting that energy out, because I want 2025 to be my year. I want to own this year because I feel like I’ve been planting seeds all over the place and I’m watching my little trees grow.”
Perry, 60, co-founded the band in the late 1980s with bassist Hillhouse, guitarist Shaunna Hall and drummer Wanda Day. However, Day was later replaced by Richardson and Rocha took Hall’s spot.
Perry herself participated in the TikTok trend alongside friend Jennifer Lopez. The video, posted on Oct. 27, 2025, featured J.Lo lip-synching the opening lines of “What’s Up?,” while Perry mouthed along to a verse from Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”
The viral mashup is the brainchild of an Ohio-based college senior called DJ Auxlord, who spoke to Rolling Stone about the remix, but asked not to be identified.
“I’m so gagged,” they told the outlet of the song’s success. “It’s just been so crazy.”
