It’s a long weekend, and that means one thing for us here: more time to binge-watch new movies and shows.
This weekend, Oct. 11-13, we have three vastly different options in theaters, from the third installment of a 40-year franchise to an ode-to-Hollywood musical starring none other than Jennifer Lopez.
Over on streaming, Netflix is settling into its true crime fall with a documentary told by the daughter of a serial killer while Prime Video looks back at the life of a legend.
Last week’s One Chicago return and the week before that’s premieres of the Law & Order shows not enough procedural for you? Well, ABC is now back with theirs — including an over two-decade-long fan-favorite.
And there’s more! Here’s a list of the nine best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Tron: Ares
Tron has been asking the question of what happens when the human and digital world interact for over 40 years — and it’s more relevant now than ever before.
The third installment of the franchise follows the original 1982 Tron and its 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, as, for the first time, a being from the digital world is sent into the real one, rather than the other way around.
Tron: Ares releases in theaters on Oct. 10.
Roofman
You ever hear one of those stories that just somehow gets crazier with every detail? Well, that’s Roofman.
A former Army Ranger is convicted of robbing McDonald’s locations by drilling through the roof and locking employees in the freezer. Then, he escapes from prison by clinging to a truck and lives out of a Toys R’ Us for six months, using baby monitors to watch for security. Then, he dates a local woman, joins a community church and gifts her children toys he pilfered before he is recaptured.
And all of that is the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, brought to life by Channing Tatum in Roofman.
Roofman releases in theaters Oct. 10.
Kiss of the Spider Woman
Lopez is back on the silver screen in Kiss of the Spider Woman, which stars the multi-hyphenate as movie-within-a-movie star Ingrid Luna.
The movie, based on the Broadway musical of the same name, tells the story of Valentín (Diego Luna), a political prisoner, and Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser, who share a prison cell. The two develop a close bond as Molina recites the story of his favorite movie, starring Luna.
Kiss of the Spider Woman releases in theaters on Oct. 10.
My Father, the BTK Killer
No one imagines that one day they will get a call from the police informing them that their father has been accused of being a prolific serial killer. But that was Kerri Rawson’s reality when she found out that the man who raised her, Dennis Rader, was the infamous BTK killer who terrorized her family’s hometown of Wichita, Kan., for 15 years.
Now, she’s opening up about how she reconciled the doting, protective father she thought she knew with the vicious, “bond, torture, kill” murderer spending the rest of his life in prison.
Watch My Father, the BTK Killer on Netflix.
The Woman in Cabin 10
As Gen Z says, “Girlboss, gatekeep, gaslight” — and all three themes are at the center of The Woman in Cabin 10. Girlboss Lo Blackwell (Keira Knightley) just wants a luxurious break when she takes on an assignment on a billionaire’s yacht. But when she hears a woman get thrown overboard, she’s in for anything but.
The guests and crew go on to gaslight her into thinking the woman never existed — all the while gatekeeping the truth: everything may not be as it seems with host Richard Bullmer (Guy Pearce) and his group of wealthy friends.
Watch The Woman in Cabin 10 on Netflix.
John Candy: I Like Me
It’s been over 30 years since comedian John Candy died, but his legacy has permeated through pop culture today — and continues to live on through his peers.
Produced by Ryan Reynolds and directed by Colin Hanks, Prime Video’s John Candy: I Like Me features interviews with legends like Bill Murray, Eugene Levy, Steve Martin, Martin Short and Macaulay Culkin as they look back on the comedian’s lasting impact.

Grey’s Anatomy season 22
It feels like there’s a real possibility that this show will never end — and we’re OK with that!
Grey’s Anatomy is back in its 22nd season, kicking off with a bang (literally…) as Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital reckons with yet another life-threatening emergency. And Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) isn’t too far away to call for help …
