It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Dust off your ruby red slippers, put on your witch’s hat and paint your entire body Elphaba-green: it’s Wicked weekend!
This weekend, Nov. 22-23, the second part of the record-breaking musical movie adaptation hits theaters — but that’s not all.
On streaming, Netflix is serving a diverse array of content from the second season of a septuagenarian’s mystery-solving antics to a look back at the crime that tragically took the life of an iconic singer.
And there’s more! Here’s a list of the eight best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Wicked: For Good
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are hanging up their hats as Glinda and Elphaba for good. In this second part of the 2024 cultural phenomenon Wicked, the iconic story of how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be is coming to an end — and so is the meme-making, ultra-affectionate, weirdly-cursed press tour, much to either your chagrin or relief.
This time around, Elphaba attempts to save her friends while Glinda is under the spell of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). But can their friendship stand the strain of seemingly working for opposing sides?
Wicked: For Good releases in theaters on Nov. 21.
Rental Family
Brendan Fraser is taking the job of actor to another level as Phillip in Rental Family. When a Japanese “rental family” agency is in need of a “token White guy” to step into intimate roles in strangers’ lives, they look no further than sweet and humble Phillip.
However, the actor soon begins to struggle with the moral complexities of the job as he forms a true fatherly bond with one of his clients.
Rental Family releases in theaters on Nov. 21.
A Man on the Inside season 2
Netflix’s audience has proven it loves a septuagenarian solving crimes (read: The Thursday Murder Club), so much so that A Man on the Inside is back for a season 2.
This time around, Charles (Ted Danson) is taking his private investigating skills to a new setting: Wheeler College. When the president’s laptop — apparently worth $400 million (I wonder what secrets are on there!) — goes missing, it’s up to Charles to find the culprit.

The Family Plan 2
Surprising his wife and three children with a secret history as an assassin once just wasn’t enough for Dan Morgan (Mark Wahlberg) — he has new skeletons in the closet in The Family Plan 2.
