NEED TO KNOW
Meghan Markle is back with Season 2 of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
Nearly six months after the premiere of her lifestyle show — launched alongside her brand, As ever — the Duchess of Sussex is back with more from her rented Montecito kitchen. From a “terrible” roast chicken mishap on the night Prince Harry, 40, proposed to heartfelt reflections on being apart from her children during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, Meghan serves up plenty of eye-opening moments — and jam! — in Season 2.
Between apple pie-baking, sea urchin slurping and bookbinding adventures, Meghan, 44, shares candid personal stories and behind-the-scenes glimpses into her life in California with Harry and their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
Here are the top standout moments from the latest season, which premieres Tueday, Aug. 26.
Meghan reveals the pain of being away from Archie and Lilibet during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral
In one of the season’s most emotional moments, Meghan reflected on a particularly difficult time being away from Archie and Lilibet for 17 days in September 2022. Speaking to Tan France, she recalls the heartache of that stretch, saying, “The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks. I was…not well.” At the time, she and Prince Harry were already in Europe for charity events, and the Queen’s death extended their stay in the U.K. while their children, Archie and Lilibet (then 3 and 15 months), remained in California. While Meghan didn’t mention the funeral specifically, it marks the first time she has spoken publicly about the personal toll of that historic period.
The night Harry proposed didn’t quite go as planned
Forget fairy-tale perfection — Meghan admitted the chicken she roasted for Prince Harry on the night of his proposal was a disaster. “I was still having a lot of challenges with the conversion of Celsius and Fahrenheit,” she says. “I made a horrible chicken that night. I mean, truly, truly terrible. So the point is, you can make a terrible chicken, and someone is still going to appreciate the thought.”

Tan France’s priceless reaction to Meghan’s flower sprinkles
Breakfast turned into a scene-stealer when Meghan topped her French toast with her sold-out flower sprinkles — prompting a priceless reaction from Queer Eye’s Tan France.
“What was that you just added?” he asks, to which Meghan replies, “Flower sprinkles. I love them.”
Tan couldn’t contain himself: “Wow, that’s the gayest s—- I’ve seen in a long time.”
Meghan, who instantly cracks up, explains that she loves things to look “beautiful.”
Meghan jokes about having a “secret” third child
In one of the season’s funniest moments, Meghan teases about a “secret” third child. While making birth-month flower jewelry with Chrissy Teigen, Meghan says, “Miles and Archie were both lily of the valley. And ‘Honsworth,’ this one.”
Chrissy blinks: “You have a kid named Honsworth?”
Meghan jokes, “It’s my child you’ve never heard of.” An off-camera voice corrects, “Hawthorn,” and they both crack up. Meghan adds, “By the way, if I could have kept a secret like that, impressive.”

Meghan and Teigen bond over gross Deal or No Deal eyelash ritual
The two former costars take a trip down memory lane about their early 2000s days on Deal or No Deal.. “I was thinking about how many moons ago we crossed paths,” Meghan says. “That was a past life. That was good old Deal or No Deal.”
“I remember all standing in line to get our lashes put on, like in a row,” the Duchess of Sussex continues.
Teigen responds, laughing: “I do remember coming off stage one day and they held a Ziploc bag open and we all took our eyelashes off and just put them in there. And I’m like, ‘Are these for tomorrow?’ And we’d all just close our eyes. Oh my lord..What a time though!”
Meghan quips, “I was just so happy to have health insurance!”
When she knew Harry was “the one”
When Tan France asks if there was a moment she first realized she loved him, Meghan pins it down: “Yes. That was our third date.” They met in Botswana, camped for five days and really got to know each other.
“You really get to know somebody when you’re in a little tent together and there’s like, ‘What is that outside the tent?’” Meghan laughs. “’That’s an elephant. Are we gonna be safe? Yeah, you’re safe. Okay.’”
When France asks who said “I love you” first, Meghan replies, “He told me.”
Noticing her blush, France jokes he’ll “stop this line of questioning,” and Meghan quips, “She’s still got it!”

Her surprise first anniversary dinner in the U.K.
Harry surprised Meghan with an intimate night out in an unexpected U.K. spot to celebrate their first anniversary. Chef Clare Smyth, who catered their evening wedding reception, recalls the special dinner: “I still remember doing your anniversary. We surprised you.” Meghan lights up: “Oh my gosh, yes! That was so fun, in that beautiful little old chapel.” Clare laughs about tiptoeing across the creaky historic floors “like ninjas” and trying not to “touch anything.” Meghan adds, “Everything around you is historical.”
Meghan and Harry served up fried chicken at their royal wedding
For the first time, Meghan revealed what guests ate at the couple’s star-studded wedding after party — which included the ultimate comfort food. “That was the most delicious meal,” she tells her guest, chef Clare Smyth. Smyth replies, “You know what else? Your fried chicken at the after party.” Meghan smiles, “Yes! The late-night bites.” The Michelin-starred chef explains, “It’s not really something I typically do, so we had to create a recipe for fried chicken.” Meghan responds, “And you did.” Clare adds, “We kept it, and we still serve it as an off-menu item.” Meghan beams, “I love that our off-menu item is the fried chicken at Core. If that’s my claim to fame, I’m thrilled.”
When Meghan presents Smyth with a travel bag featuring her calligraphy, the chef recalls Meghan lending her artistic touch to the wedding menus. “I just love all this stuff you do — you just make everything so beautiful,” Smyth says. “You did that with the wedding menu. You had it all hand-drawn, and it was stunning because it was personal.”

The 40th birthday hat she made for Harry
One of the season’s most personal moments came when Meghan shared a gift she made for Harry’s 40th birthday: a black baseball cap embroidered with “PH 40.” While packing for a girls’ weekend in Malibu with her friend Heather Dorak, Meghan pulls out the cap. “I made these for my husband’s 40th birthday — for him and his friends,” she says. The Duchess of Sussex planned a special birthday getaway for Harry and some of his closest friends to celebrate the milestone in 2024.
Her Bath & Body Works obsession — all thanks to a teen magazine tip
As a teenager, Meghan admits she hit up Bath & Body Works after reading in a magazine that certain scents could “get a boy to like you.”
“I love the smell of vanilla,” she says. “I think that’s sense recall. I remember also reading those teen magazines in middle school or high school, like, “Boys like when girls wear things that smell like vanilla.’ So I was the first person at Bath & Body Works, like, ‘The vanilla lotion!’ Now, it’s not a smell that I would wear, but it’s so funny.” A millennium-core relic, resurrected.

Meghan honors her California roots
The seventh episode closes with a heartfelt tribute to California communities devastated by wildfires earlier this year. A dedication card honored first responders and those affected, highlighting Meghan’s California roots and her family’s connection to their adopted home: “This episode, filmed in the heart of Malibu, is dedicated to the first responders and all those affected by the devastating fires that swept through communities across California in early 2025. With love, to all our neighbors.”
Meghan’s reaction when a guest shades Suits
In an unexpected moment, a mixologist jokingly shades Suits. While in Malibu, Payman Bahmani Bailey shows Meghan and her friend Heather Dorak how to make cocktails. When Meghan asks how he became a mixologist, he explains he was previously a lawyer in New York. Meghan immediately asks if he watched Suits, the USA Network series on which Meghan starred for seven seasons. “No, no,” he quickly replies, before adding, “I don’t watch basic cable. I like shows with curse words and stuff.” Meghan, more amused than offended, laughs and says, “Great! I love it.”
In the same episode, Meghan reveals that while she was never a bartender, she once worked as a hostess at West Hollywood staple Mirabelle, which closed in 2013. “I was a great hostess,” she says. “It was a great job. [The manager] was like, ‘You want to be a waitress?’ And I was like, ‘I’m really good at hostessing… I understood my lane. So no, I’ll take less tips and do the only thing I’m really good at: Welcome!’”

She turned to McDonald’s apple pies after acting auditions
In a nostalgic confession, Meghan recalls how she used to treat herself to McDonald’s hot apple pies after grueling acting auditions. “If I thought I did really well at an audition, most actresses would probably think, ‘I went on an audition, I’m going to go to the gym,'” she says. “Nope, I was like, ‘That went well. I’m going to treat myself to a drive-through apple pie.’ So I’d go to the drive-thru at McDonald’s and buy myself an apple pie.”
Archie and Lilibet picked up Harry’s accent — with this one word
Turns out the Sussex kids sound a little bit British. Meghan revealed that Prince Harry’s accent has rubbed off on Archie and Lilibet, especially with how they pronounce one particular word. While cooking with Clare Smyth, Meghan laughs that the kids have picked up a very British quirk: “They both say ‘zeb-rah’ though instead of zebra.” She adds that “papa’s not cooking as much,” which is why the borrowed Brit-isms aren’t kitchen terms.

Meghan is loving her 40s and the friendships that go her there
While reflecting on her friendship with Pilates Platinum founder Heather Dorak, whom she met 20 years ago, Meghan shares: “When I met her, our connection was through health and fitness. We would go on runs together, and now we’re moms, we both have two kids. Our husbands are really good friends. It’s really sweet to watch the evolution of that friendship.”
“I think it’s great to go through all that growing up when you’re in your 20s, then start to figure it out when you’re in your 30s and it’s really awesome to be in your 40s,” she continues. “You have to go through all of that to get to where you’re supposed to be. And it’s been really interesting to watch as we’ve gotten older and more comfortable just as women and who we are in our skin and bodies…We’ve just settled into a different era.”
