NEED TO KNOW
Survivor season 50 is here!
The first trailer of the competition show’s 50th season, titled “In the Hands of the Fans,” arrived on Wednesday, Dec. 17, following the finale of Season 49. The trailer features Survivor alums, celebrity cameos and a special twist to the beloved show: the game is influenced by fan votes.
Survivor’s landmark season is one for the all-stars, featuring 24 of the show’s best players since its start. As the trailer begins, Ozzy Lusth (competing for the fifth time), Jonathan Young and Colby Donaldson appear on screen as they board their plane to Fiji.
“We chose you to represent 25 years of the greatest adventure on television,” host and showrunner Jeff Probst says. “It’s a big honor.”
He continues, “The only thing we want in exchange for giving you the spot is everything.”

Fan favorite Mike White also returns for Survivor’s milestone season — he was previously in season two, David vs. Goliath — saying, “It feels a little like a high school reunion meets a massacre.”
More surprises kept coming as the trailer continued. With special appearances by Zac Brown and Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, “a Billie Eilish boomerang idol,” and Christian Hubicki saying, “Jimmy Fallon may decide my fate,” season 50 is bound to be the biggest season yet. One of the contestants even called it “the Survivor coliseum.”
So, who is a part of the biggest batch of contestants the show has ever seen?
Along with Lusth, Young, Donaldson, White and Hubicki, this season features Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Cirie Fields, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, Aubry Bracco, Chrissy Hofbeck, Angelina Keeley, Rick Devens, Emily Flippen, Dee Valladares, Quintavius “Q” Burdette, Charlie Davis, Tiffany Ervin, Genevieve Mushaluk, Kyle Fraser, Joe Hunter, Kamilla Karthigesu and last season’s crowned winner, Savannah Louie, with Rizo Velovic, who came in fourth place.

Season 49 was one for the books. For the first time since 2014 (third time overall), the final three were all women — making Survivor history. Louie also became the fifth woman to win four individual immunity challenges in one season. After some drama and a fire-making showdown, Louie took home the $1 million prize.
Survivor season 50 will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+. All seasons of Survivor are also available to stream on Paramount+.
