NEED TO KNOW
Rick Ross is investigating life’s big questions in his upcoming book.
Nearly two decades after the 49-year-old rapper released his debut single, “Hustlin,’” PEOPLE has an exclusive look at his forthcoming book, The Renaissance of a Boss, which chronicles rapper-turned-entrepreneur’s epic journey to rediscovering his creative spark while on an inspiring road trip adventure.
Nearing his 50s, Ross found himself in a creative rut after spending the last two decades cementing his legacy in hip hop and finding success in building a diverse business empire and launching his own record label, Maybach Music Group.
“After several false starts — including a failed attempt at climbing Mount Kilimanjaro — Ross hits the open road in search of answers to life’s big questions,” the book’s official synopsis reads. “The epic journey takes Ross to Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo and ultimately a Native American sweat lodge ceremony in Santa Fe.”

Indeed, Ross shared that he and Presley had quite a few things in common while visiting his estate in November 2024. Taking a look at the King of Rock and Roll’s 1958 Convair 880, an airplane he purchased in 1975 and named after his daughter Lisa Marie, Ross quipped on his Instagram Stories at the time, “As we all could see, me and Elvis had a lot of things in common … His ranch is Graceland, my ranch is Promise Land.”
“I love the planes,” the rapper, who owns a Gulfstream G550, continued. “I love he was a hustler. He was a man amongst the people.”
Beyond his adventurous road trip, Ross’ third book — preceded by Hurricanes: A Memoir and The Perfect Day to Boss Up — also explores the multihyphenate’s creative process, advice on how to “bounce back from flops,” untold stories of his collaborations with celebrities like Dr. Dre, Bruno Mars and Bill Murray, and the rituals and habits that have gotten him to where he is today.

“This isn’t just a book; it’s a manual for greatness,” Ross teases in a statement to PEOPLE. “I’m cutting out the noise and showing you that when you execute with precision, success is too easy.”
