Princess Diana’s Niece Lady Eliza Spencer Celebrates Engagement Party

Princess Diana’s niece Lady Eliza Spencer celebrated her engagement to Channing Millerd at a luxe rooftop bash with her family and friends.

Eliza, 33, and Channing toasted to the next chapter at a beachfront rooftop bash in Cape Town, South Africa, on Dec. 20, Hello! magazine reported. 

The couple got engaged in July in Greece after nine years of dating, and Eliza recently revealed that they would have an engagement party in Cape Town in December.  

“We’re having around 50 of our closest friends and family, which will be amazing,” the bride-to-be told Hello! earlier this month. 

Eliza, a model and socialite, had her family around her on the exciting night, where she and Channing kissed and posed for photos in footage shared to her Instagram Stories. 

She also posted pictures with her twin sister Lady Amelia Spencer and a group shot with her twin, their older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, mother Victoria Lockwood and half-brother Samuel Aitken. 

Eliza, Amelia and Kitty are the daughters of Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, and his first wife, Victoria. The former couple also shares a son Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp. 

Eliza brought the bridal vibes in a semi-sheer white mini dress with floral appliqués and white heels, and swept her hair into a half-updo with drop earrings.

The oceanfront rooftop party — complete with aperol spritz on tap! — echoed the setting of Channing’s proposal on a beachfront balcony in Santorini, Greece, which Eliza previously told Hello! was “a dream come true.” 

Channing popped the question over the summer at a waterfront balcony decorated with flowers and candles as a cover of “Stand by Me” by played, and impressively took the proposal photos himself with a hidden tripod.

Another photo on Eliza’s Instagram Stories from the engagement party showed a long wooden table with buffet station and lights dangling from the trees, setting the scene for an intimate dinner.

“A beautiful evening celebrating the most special couple,” read text over the photo. 

On July 31, Eliza announced her engagement to Channing, an entrepreneur and brand chief operating officer, after almost a decade together. The future bride and groom both grew up in South Africa and first met there 15 years ago at a dinner party hosted by mutual friend Greg Mallett, who Amelia married in 2023.

Channing and Eliza got together in 2016 and he proposed at a sunset dinner in Santorini in July with a 2.5 carat pear-cut diamond ring sourced from South Africa in a sentimental connection

Looking ahead to their wedding, Eliza previously said that both she and her ​​fiancé liked the idea of a destination event.

“We’re quite keen on a destination wedding. Some of our best memories have been made in the Mediterranean. Then, at the same time, all of our friends and family have done weddings in Cape Town,” she told Hello! earlier this month.

“I’ve never been to Lake Como, but it looks so beautiful. I think that would be my dream destination, but we still have to visit it first,” the bride-to-be added.
