NEED TO KNOW
Marissa Springer is speaking out after a video of her kissing TikTok star Desmond Scott circulated the internet, mere days after the news broke of his divorce.
“I’m gonna get hate regardless if I post a video or not,” the Houston-based model said in a candid video uploaded to TikTok on Jan. 18. “But I just wanted to clear my name.”
On Dec. 30, influencer Kristy Scott filed for divorce from her husband, Desmond, after over 11 years of marriage, shocking their combined following of over 30 million people, many of whom had followed the couple for their parenting and relationship content. Kristy alleged infidelity as the reason for the pair’s split, per court records previously obtained by PEOPLE.
On Jan. 15, less than a week after the news broke of Kristy and Desmond’s divorce, TMZ shared a video of Desmond making out with Springer in Sante, a Houston bar, sparking speculation that Desmond had been cheating with the model near the end of his marriage to Kristy.
But in her Jan. 18 video, Springer firmly denied the rumors, telling her thousands of TikTok followers, “I’m gonna say this one time and one time only: I’m not the one he cheated with.”
The content creator went on to explain that she “did not know” Desmond before meeting him at the bar.
“I’m pretty sure when you guys meet someone at a club, you don’t interrogate them about who or what their social media status is,” she said. “We were obviously many drinks in. The vibes were there.”
She also slammed speculation online that she has a boyfriend or that she had asked Desmond to “buy me a bottle.”
“Moral of the story, nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors,” concluded Springer. “And it should never reach the extent of having death threats to you or your family.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Springer and Desmond for comment.
Though Desmond has not publicly addressed the video of him locking lips with Springer, he did acknowledge his divorce from Kristy in a post shared to his Instagram Stories on Jan. 10, apologizing to Kristy, his family and “everyone who has been impacted by the public attention surrounding this situation.”
“I know this news has been disappointing for many, and I’m truly sorry for the hurt it has caused,” wrote the internet personality, acknowledging that he had “made choices that I am not proud of.”

“I took responsibility for those actions, I shared this with her directly and personally, and ultimately we decided to divorce,” Desmond continued. “l ask for privacy and compassion as we navigate this difficult chapter of our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. I’m grateful for that support.”

On Jan. 18, Desmond shared his first video since the news broke of his divorce — a video of himself in a kitchen, captioned, “Back in the kitchen this week,” and set to A$AP Rocky’s “Stay Here 4 Life.”
Kristy has not directly acknowledged her divorce filing from Desmond, though fans believe she has hinted at the split in several of her recent posts — notably one where she struggled to cook less than a month before the news became public.
She also appeared to allude to the divorce in a Jan. 14 Instagram post, which featured photos of herself posing in a sultry red dress on top of a kitchen table with the caption, “same address.”
