Kate Hudson is one proud mom!
The Almost Famous actress, 46, shared an Instagram carousel featuring an array of childhood photos on Wednesday, Jan 7, to mark her eldest son Ryder’s birthday.
Hudson’s caption read, “22 today 🎂 Funny, kind, beautiful inside and out and somehow still wants to stay home after graduation. I’ll take the win. So proud of the man you are @mr.ryderrobinson Being your Ma is a gift 💫 Happy Birthday to Ryder!!!! 🎉🥳”
The images included Ryder, whom Hudson welcomed with her ex-husband Chris Robinson in 2004, lying on the floor as a child, snuggled up with the family pets, and swimming with his younger brother, Bingham, 14, whom his mom shares with her former fiancé Matt Bellamy.
Further images show Ryder enjoying a cocktail and spending time with his little sister, Rani, who Hudson welcomed in 2018 with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.

While Ryder himself added three love heart emojis to the comments section of his mom’s post, a few famous faces also sent their birthday wishes. Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon, 49, wrote, “Happy Birthday @mr.ryderrobinson!! 😎,” and fashion stylist and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Rachel Zoe added, “Happiest Birthday to the sweetest coolest kindest @mr.ryderrobinson wishing you the best year ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Back in 2021, Hudson joked about the fact that each of her kids has a different father during an appearance on Sunday Today with Willie Geist. “I’ve got multiple dads, I’ve got kids all over the place,” she said. She also touched upon the topic during an interview with The Sunday Times in November 2022.

“It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we’re killing it,” she said of co-parenting with the three men. “[But] the unit that I’ve created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it’s ours.”
As for Ryder himself, Hudson has said she thinks he’s inherited her family’s acting genes, and during a 2021 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Hudson shared that Ryder is “deeply funny.”
“Ryder — I mean, he’s clearly gonna probably follow in the footsteps of the family. And I would say he’s probably the funniest in our family. Nobody makes me laugh like Ryder, and he just constantly makes fun of me,” she said.

Meanwhile, in March 2024, Hudson released a song called “Live Forever,” which she explained was inspired by the “absolutely consuming joy” of Ryder’s birth.
“I was so young when Ryder was born, I look back and marvel; I was almost a kid, too, so we were able to fall in love with growing up at the same time,” she said of the musical tribute.
