Brooks Nader has strong opinions when it comes to her least favorite holiday decorations!
The Love Thy Nader star, 28, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the festive theme she chose this year to deck out her new home in Los Angeles, while chatting about her recent partnership with Samsung SmartThings.
Standing by her “traditional” Christmas setup this year, Nader says there’s two holiday decorations that she would never have on display in her home — and her answer might ruffle some feathers.
“I cannot stand tinsel,” she tells PEOPLE. “I hate it — I just can’t.”

Another one she says, “I don’t hate, but I strongly dislike,” is a “themed” Christmas tree that’s “frosty white” or “all silver.”
“I just really don’t want anyone to do that in front of me. It’s not a vibe,” she says.
Her style leans more classic, with a slight “Ralph Lauren-y” look, she notes, joking, “The only time I keep it classy is with my Christmas decor.”
PEOPLE previously shared a look inside Nader’s new L.A. home featuring her towering Christmas tree with red, silver and gold ornaments. She also placed dark red bows scattered throughout the evergreen.
The model says she almost passed on the bow-shaped accessories as they “triggered me a little bit to my Southern childhood,” adding, “my mom would literally rip our hair out and put them in huge bows.”

“I had a flashback and I was like, ‘Take the bows out.’ But now that I’m really looking at them, I kind of love them, and it’s a little nostalgic from our church days,” she explained.
As for how she’s spending the holidays this year, Nader says she’s happy to host her “whole crazy family” at her house in L.A. — including her sisters and Love Thy Nader costars Mary Holland, Grace Ann and Sarah Jane, as well as her parents Breaux Nader and Holland Greene Nader.

Her favorite traditions to do with her family during the festive season include the “classic stuff,” she says, from “matching Christmas PJs” to “making Christmas cookies” together. She also recalls the sweet gesture her dad does every Christmas morning for the whole family to enjoy.
“My dad is so cute,” she says. “He loves cooking us breakfast, so he makes his famous little breakfast every Christmas morning, and I just wouldn’t have it any other way.”
