Brandon Blackstock’s Brother and Daughter Share Birthday Tributes After His Death

Brandon Blackstock’s loved ones are remembering him on what would have been his 49th birthday.

Blackstock’s daughter Savannah and his brother Shelby paid tribute to the late talent manager on Dec. 16, four months after he died of melanoma on Aug. 7 at age 48.

Shelby, 35, remembered Blackstock with an Instagram carousel of photos that featured the pair enjoying the outdoors, and posing with beer in hand.

“Happy 49th birthday, Brandon. I think about you every day, and it’s still hard to believe you’re gone. This morning felt strange not making that 5am birthday call just to be the first one,” Shelby wrote. “You never know how special those moments are until they’re gone.”

He continued, “I know you’re having the best birthday up there— with an endless supply of Coors Lights & your favorite. Happy birthday. I love you and miss you so much!!!”

Shelby and Blackstock share the same father, Narvel Blackstock. Shelby’s mother is Narvel’s ex-wife, Reba McEntire.

Savannah, meanwhile, also posted on social media, writing that she’d hoped the daughter with whom she’s currently pregnant would have been born on her father’s birthday.

“Happy Birthday dad ❤️ I was really hoping my little girl would make an appearance today and share this special day with you, but she’s staying put for now,” she wrote. “She already seems to be stubborn, and I sure know where she gets it!”

She continued, “I can’t even imagine how beautiful your life is now with our Heavenly Father. As much as I miss you and would rather be next to you in a tractor, I know you are experiencing the true peace that surpasses all understanding. I love you ❤️.”

Savannah announced her pregnancy in July, writing on Instagram that she was expecting a baby girl to be named Julianna in early January.

Earlier this month, Savannah honored her dad’s legacy and gave a shoutout to his partner Brittney Jones in an Instagram Stories post that celebrated a holiday event hosted by his Headwaters Livestock Auction at Valley View Rodeo.

“All my dad wanted to do was bring the community together, and @brittneymariej is doing the most beautiful job continuing to bring his dreams to life,” she wrote. “I’m heartbroken I wasn’t there to witness this in person, but I know it was magical and made my dad so proud of his team. ❤️🎄.”

Blackstock died one day after his ex-wife Kelly Clarkson (with whom he shares daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9) revealed he was ill.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a rep for the family told PEOPLE in a statement at the time. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
