NEED TO KNOW
Bowen Yang, Scarlett Johansson and Jon Hamm have shared TV screens before and now they are back together for a salty cause.
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, the three stars were revealed as the faces behind Ritz’s 2026 Super Bowl commercial.
The 30-second spot opens with Hamm and Yang are tucked away in a tree house and scoping out a party on the sand.
“Another day, another Ritz party,” the Mad Men actor says bitterly before yelling, “Why didn’t they invite us?”
“Well, we’re salty and we hate parties and mingling and yapping,” the Saturday Night Live alum responds resentfully.
“They do have all the Ritz crackers though. That salty, buttery flavor,” Hamm notes wishfully. “Let’s go for five minutes,” he continues, with a change of tone.
RITZ
“I’ll only go if my feet don’t have to touch the sand at all,” Yang replies without looking at Hamm who gasps at the request.
In that moment, the Lost in Translation actress soars in on a jet ski, takes off her sunglasses and shouts up to the two, “Hey, salties, what’s the holdup? It’s party time!”
“The holdup is—” Hamm explains pointing to his side at where Yang was just standing, before realizing the comedian is gone. “Not me! Let’s go, Scarlett,” Yang answers, already sitting behind the Jurassic World Rebirth star.
Hamm, Yang and Johannson sit in a row on the jet ski moving through the party and the Las Culturistas podcast host roars, “Ritz party!”
“So loud, so loud, take it down a notch,” Johansson and Hamm scold him.
Johansson and Hamm both hosted respective episodes of Saturday Night Live in spring 2025, meaning they cracked jokes with seven-season cast member Yang (who departed the show at the end of 2025). According to Yang, the trio quickly gelled with each other on the Ritz set.
“It was remarkably lovely and easy with people that I already worked with,” Yang told PEOPLE of his experience filming his first-ever Super Bowl commercial. “I looked around, I was flanked by two of the hardest working people in show business.”
He described feeling “very lucky” to have done it with “my old friends ScarJo and Jojo:” “I was like, ‘But wait, I already intimately worked with these people before.’ It’s crazy.”
While the Wicked actor has starred in plenty of real commercials and faux-advertisement sketches on SNL, his debut Super Bowl commercial has special meaning.
“People pay attention to those in a way that I think I took for granted over the course of being in the biz,” he explained. “Every year, you hear of friends and acquaintances who do this spot and I feel very thrilled to be among these people.”
The Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots are facing off in the 2026 Super Bowl, airing on NBC on Sunday, Feb. 8.
