“Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party,” Barry wrote of his first weekend of shows back following the procedure. “I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
He also expressed hope that his followers will take a page out of his book, adding, “Remember, if you have even the slightest symptom, get tested!”
Barry is not the only star who has used their diagnosis to spread awareness. James Van Der Beek—who shared his own stage three colorectal cancer diagnosis last year—recently shared that the illness has been the “best thing that ever happened” to him.
“I had this little voice in my head that said, ‘You’re going to make changes in your life that you would never, ever make if you didn’t have this extreme of a diagnosis,’” James explained during a Dec. 19 appearance on Today. “I don’t think I knew what it was to slow down before.”
As he put it, “Really, the biggest change would be this journey of self-love.”
