Madelyn Cline and Kelsea Ballerini Reunite, Squash Rumors of a Feud

Madelyn Cline and Kelsea Ballerini are putting the rumors to rest.

The pair revealed that they were hanging out in a photo shared Monday, Feb. 2, shutting down speculation of a feud. In a snap that Cline, 28, shared on her Instagram Stories, she and Ballerini, 32, covered their faces as they appeared to be laughing. 

This comes a month after the country singer confirmed that she and Chase Stokes — who previously dated Cline and stars alongside her in Outer Banks — rekindled their relationship after their breakup in September 2025.

Cline and Stokes, 33, met in 2019, shortly before they began filming the fan-favorite Netflix series, in which they play a couple. They took their relationship public in 2020 but called it quits in November 2021 after less than two years together.

In January 2023, Ballerini and Stokes sparked dating rumors when the actor shared a cuddly photo of them on social media. They went on to tease the relationship in a handful of interviews before going public with their romance in April 2023 at the CMT Awards.

Later that year, Ballerini opened up about the internet pitting her and Cline against each other, saying that there was no bad blood and their friendship was not “weird.” 

“I met her, and I talked to her and she’s lovely, and I think she’s wildly talented. And I think the internet did its best to make it really weird, and it just didn’t work for them,” Ballerini explained on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. 

“I’m stoked to be on set and vibe with everyone,” she continued. “At the end of the day, I’m a girl’s girl. I don’t buy into the bulls—, and I don’t buy into, especially, the loud, echo chamber of pop culture trying to make a thing out of nothing. I think they have a beautiful working relationship and I’m excited to hang with her. I’m vibing.”

In 2024, Ballerini once again showed her support for the actress when rating Outer Banks characters in a TikTok. When Cline’s face popped up, the I Sit in Parks singer immediately declared: “So hot. So hot.”

“We stan Sarah Cameron and Madelyn Cline in this house,” she added.

Stokes has also spoken out against fans speculating about the dynamic between the three. In November 2025, two months after he and the Grammy nominee split, he reacted to comments referencing him and Cline under a TikTok Ballerini posted promoting her EP. 

“These comments are f—ing weird,” Stokes wrote. “Grow up.”

In New Year’s Eve posts the following month, he and Ballerini revealed that they are back together.

“Something I’ve learned this year: don’t take advantage of the most beautiful things that in 33 years of life are fleeting. Take accountability, learn from mistakes. Lean into love and say it often,” Stokes wrote in the caption.

Ballerini echoed his sentiments and also indicated they will be keeping things private going forward: “Messy year for the heart, messy year for the outside coming in, messy year for the way it became an out of our hands portrayal of it,” she wrote over a photo of her and Stokes embracing with a sunset in the background.

“But what I’ll say,” she continued, “and all I really care to share indefinitely with my personal life anymore, is that I really love love. I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns.” 

“Now go kiss your person and stop speculating,” Ballerini concluded with a kissing emoji.
