Nothing is as it seems in the upcoming MGM+ miniseries Vanished.
The four-episode thriller stars Kaley Cuoco as Alice, who travels to Paris to see her boyfriend, Tom (played by Sam Claflin). However, the couple’s romantic getaway to the south of France quickly takes a turn when Tom disappears, leaving Alice “to uncover shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew,” per the official synopsis.
PEOPLE has an exclusive look at the trailer ahead of the show’s premiere on Sunday, Feb. 1. In the extended preview, Alice tell Tom: “I love that we get to meet up in hotels all over the world, but I want to build a life.”
After he offers a reassuring, “I love you,” Alice falls asleep on the train. When she wakes up, Tom is nowhere to be found.

“Tom, I’ve been looking all over for you,” she says when someone picks up her call to his phone. However, her panicked words are met with muffled sounds and a quick hang-up.
“My boyfriend’s missing,” she later tells a detective (Simon Abkarian). “Please help me.”
He responds that “there are three major reasons that people disappear: work, money and relationships.” Still, Alice says that Tom would “never do that.”
It isn’t until she meets a woman, portrayed by French actress Karin Viard, who claims she has been investigating Tom that Alice begins to learn about her boyfriend’s secret life.
“You don’t even know Tom,” she tells the woman, who quips, “Do you?”

Another acquaintance (Matthias Schweighöfer) then asks Alice how Tom has been “since the incident,” which she knew nothing about. Amid several more warnings to “tread carefully” and not to “trust anyone,” Alice realizes that she might not be safe either.
“The search for the truth uncovers dangerous lies,” a message flashes across the screen as a masked man bangs on Alice’s apartment door, leading her to escape out the window and run through the streets of France.
She then comes across a news headline that reveals she is wanted for murder.
“This is much bigger than just me,” she cries. “I need to find him.”
