Rob Reiner’s Friends Billy Crystal, Larry David and More Share Heartbreaking Tribute After His Death
Rob Reiner’s inner circle is in mourning.
Two days after the When Harry Met Sally director and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found murdered in their Los Angeles home Dec. 14, Billy Crystal and more of the couple’s close friends came together to release a joint tribute.
Along with the actor, the Dec. 16 message was signed by more than a dozen figures from the film community, including Martin Short, Larry David, Albert Brooks, Marc Shaiman, Barry Levinson and Billy’s wife Janice Crystal.
“Going to the movies in a dark theater filled with strangers having a common experience, laughing, crying, screaming in fear, or watching an intense drama unfold is still an unforgettable thrill,” their statement to the Associated Press began. “Tell us a story audiences demand of us.”
“Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl [Reiner] and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,” the letter continued. “There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.”
